Iara Vega-Linhares (Born in Santiago, Chile, in 1972)

Iara Vega Linhares links and documents the human, the social and the everyday through photography. Her latest exhibited and published projects are Bénévoles, des engagements biennois ( 2021 -2023), Temps Suspendu (2019), #FoodSweetHome (2018), LiensLazos (2012-2018), My hair is not your hair (2010), Bern under the rain (2008).

A journalist by training, she worked in communication and graphic design in Brazil, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, the Balkans and Peru, before settling in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland in 2007. It is by moving from one culture to another than Iara has taken up photography to tell life stories.

I am a Brazilian and Nicaraguan hybrid (o brasinica, como solemos decir en casa). Biel-Bienne became my city of adoption and Switzerland my homeland in 2007.

Hago fotografía, vivo del diseño gráfico y de consultorías en comunicación, escribo, no solo por haber estudiado periodismo, pero porque me nace, florece o marchita (cuando eso pasa prefiero resumirme a la fotografía y comunicar o transmitir a través de imágenes). I do photography, live from graphic design and communication consultancies, and I write, not only because I studied journalism, but because it is born, flourishes or withers (when that happens I prefer to summarize myself to photography and communicate or transmit through images).

Este es un Blog fotográfico, mas que un catálogo de imágenes, parte de mis proyectos fotográficos o ensayos aleatorios de mi imaginario visual. No escribo en un sólo idioma por ser abrangente y consecuente a mi multiculturalidad, además de fiel a los amigos regados por éste mundo afuera. Espero no confundir. Ni tampoco apegarme a perfeccionismos. This is a photographic Blog more than a catalog of images, part of my photographic projects or random essays of my visual imagery. I do not write in one language for being consistent with my multiculturalism, as well as being faithful to the friends spread by this world outside. I hope not to confuse. Nor do I stick to perfectionism.
